By downloading, installing, or using the Back to Black app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2Description of service
Back to Black is a personal finance and planning application that allows users to track receipts, bank transactions, budgets, debts, savings goals, plans, and to-do lists. The App is provided "as is" for personal, non-commercial use.
3Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use this App. By using the App you represent that you meet this requirement.
4User accounts
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials confidential.
- All activity that occurs under your account.
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised use at hello@backtoblack.app.
5Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App or its infrastructure.
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content.
- Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract source code from the App.
- Use the App to infringe the intellectual property rights of others.
- Use automated means to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the App.
6Intellectual property
All content, designs, code, and features of the App are owned by or licensed to Back to Black. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in the App beyond the limited licence to use it for personal purposes.
7Financial information disclaimer
The App is a personal tracking tool only. Nothing in the App constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. We make no representation that the information displayed is accurate, complete, or up to date. Always consult a qualified financial professional before making financial decisions.
8Ai-powered features
The App uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude) to extract data from receipt images and bank statements. AI outputs may contain errors. You are responsible for verifying all AI-extracted data.
9Data accuracy
You are responsible for the accuracy of data you enter into the App. We are not liable for decisions made based on inaccurate data you have provided.
10Service availability
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to the App. We may suspend, modify, or discontinue any part of the App at any time without notice.
11Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Back to Black and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid (if any) for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim.
12Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Back to Black and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.
13Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time if you breach these Terms. You may also terminate your account at any time via Settings → Account → Delete Account.
14Changes to terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified within the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
15Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia.
